Dr. Lui Che Woo
Lui Che Woo was born in Jiangmen, China in August 9, 1929. He is Chairman of K. Wah Group, owner of Galaxy Entertainment Group. In January 2014, with a worth of US$21 billion, Bloomberg named the second richest man in Hong Kong.
Lui Che-woo, Asia’s second-richest person, smiles infectiously and chuckles at the question: does luck play a part in business success? “There is a Chinese saying,” the 84-year-old casino tycoon begins to respond through his interpreter. The saying is broadly translated thus: “Man proposes, God disposes.” In other words, you can strive all you like but success is down to fate.
MACAU gambling tycoon Lui Che-woo has replaced Hong Kong multi-billionaire Li Ka-shing as Asia's richest man, according to Bloomberg. Mr Lui, the head of Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment, saw his fortune rise $US3.5 billion this month to $US29.6 billion, about $US100 million ahead of Mr Li, whose fortune stood at $US29.5 billion on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index on Thursday.
Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd. (27) founder Lui Che-Woo’s wealth has leaped by $10.2 billion this year -- and $1 billion in just one day yesterday -- as Macau draws record gaming revenue and his shares hit a new high.
