Gustavo A. Cisneros Rendiles born 1945, is a Venezuelan media mogul of Cuban descent. He is among the world's richest men according to Forbes magazine, which estimated his fortune at $4.2 billion in 2010. The New York Times calls Cisneros, "one of Latin America’s most powerful figures" and says he and his wife, Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, have a reputation for being "a Latin American power couple in business and the global social scene


Gustavo Cisneros, 54, is the head that shows at the Cisneros Group. He graduated from the School of Business Administration of the Babson College in Wensley, Massachusetts and under his father’s guidance; he got to know every corner of the family’s domain.

By 1992, I wanted to be in the U.S. market on a big scale. I thought the telenovelas and programming we'd developed in Venezuela could do very well in the U.S., but no one believed me. People thought Hispanics in the U.S. were different and that you had to make TV productions there to capture the experience. Not only was that an expensive proposition, but I didn't think it was true.
