Leda Braga

Leda Braga is President and Portfolio Manager at BlueCrest Capital Management Limited which has assets under management of over $18 billion. Before joining BlueCrest she worked at JP Morgan as vice president and quant analyst on the bank’s London derivatives-research team.  Braga has been rated one of the top five most influential women in the hedge fund world and has a particular emphasis on FX/Interest Rate Hybrids. According to Forbes Braga is one of the 40 Highest-Earning Hedge Fund Managers.  Braga studied at  Imperial College in the U.K. and earned a Ph.D. in engineering then worked for three years after graduation as a lecturer and a research-project manager. She was born in 1967.

BlueCrest in £150m fund raising

BlueCrest Capital Management, one of Europe's biggest hedge fund firms, is looking to raise more than £150m for a new listed feeder fund into its computer-driven BlueTrend fund, a source familiar with the matter said. The closed-end fund, BlueCrest BlueTrend, will feed into the firm's main BlueTrend fund, the company said in a statement. BlueTrend manages $13.6bn in assets and was one of the hedge fund industry's top performers during the financial crisis in 2008.

Hedge Funds Run by Women

Hedge funds run by women have fallen only half as much during the financial crisis as those managed by men, research shows. The value of female-managed funds dropped by 9.6% in the past year, compared with a plunge of 19% for the rest, according to Chicago-based Hedge Fund Research. Women investment managers also performed better in general over the past decade, with an average annual return of just over 9%, while hedge funds overall delivered 5.82%.
