Ukrainian businessman Rinat Leonidovych Akhmetov, is the the founder and President of System Capital Management (SCM); A major Ukrainian financial and industrial holding company. With group revenues of $19.5 billion, Akhmetov is currently worth $16 Billion and is listed 7th richest miner in the world. According to Forbes his company SCM, the largest conglomerate in the ex-Soviet republic, "already controls over 60% of coal production and energy generation in Ukraine." Akhmetov is also the owner and President of the Ukrainian football club Shakhtar Donetsk.
On a busy street in one of the most affluent areas of London, a handful of committed demonstrators are conducting a 24-hour picket of a large building complex. The activists bear home-made banners with slogans such as “Ukraine is on fire”, and wave the country’s blue-and-yellow flags at the development in Knightsbridge.

“Shakhtar” football club president Rinat Akhmetov expressed sympathy to photo-correspondent of Ukrinform news agency Ihor Tkachenko, who was beaten by “Olimpiyskiy” stadium director Hennadiy Kalishchuk in Donetsk on March 15, during a match between “Shakhtar” and “Metallist”. According to I.Tkachenko, Ukrainian tycoon R.Akhmetov has called him twice and expressed sympathy.
